Paris will always be associated with springtime, thanks to Cole Porter. Maybe it's time someone wrote a song about London in winter, as that is surely when the city is at its finest. Nothing too dramatic. Rarely much in the way of snow and ice. But the low winter sun by day giving way to the illuminations of night brings out the best in London's buildings, old and new.
